Science Blog Tech

Yesterday the Y7 and the Y8 went to tech. The science class is the class I am in. In the science is Kate, Limi, Shylo, Jairus, Pita and I. Yesterday at tech we did a experience with 2 bottles, 4 wires, 2 metal stuff and a light bulb. First of all we had to cut the outside of the wire. Then we had to connect the 2 wires to the 2 metal stuff. Then we had to unscrew the nails and after that we had to put the wires in and screw the two nails back into the wire. Then we did the other wire the same as what we did to the other wire.

After we did that we got 2 big cups and put water in it. After that we put salt in the water and then we had to start mixing it. Then we had to connect the 4 wires to the light bulb then we put it into the water and then turn on the switch the button on and fail. We failed because the salt was expired and our science teacher told us she would buy a new packet of salt. We had fun at tech with her because she had expired salt and we all started laughing and then we went back to school on the bus and we finish and got back to school and played.

Man walks 500m on high wire over volcano

On kiwi kids news it said a man called Nik Wallenda had walked 500m over an volcano. He walked over the volcano four days ago. He was recorded from the news hub people that report news about stuff. They say that he is a daredevil because he completed a act on Wednesday night. He walked in heat that was 11000 degrees hotness and could've died in that heat.

Well I am very surprised that he had walked in a volcano that was 11000 degrees hot and he walked on a wire that could hold him but it could've even broke and he would've fell in the lava and he could've died.

My science teacher said that we had to draw a diagram and draw how many worms we saw and us boys saw 3 worms that were alive and moving and the long earthworm was 9 cm and the medium worm was 7 cm and the short earthworm was 5 cm.

Hamlins Hill Field Trip

Last week Friday the year 7 and 8's went on a trip to Hamlins Hill.

This guy named Frazier from the Auckland Zoo came last week and we talked about pests, we learnt about what kind of traps there were and one of my favourites was a tunnel with paint and if the pests ran past we could tell which one it was by the footprints. There was a another trap, it was the grand A-24 trap which kills pests when they touch the peanut butter.

We walked up the mountain and Frazier told us to go explore and see what the traps looked like and how they work. While we were searching for traps Limiteti found a mouse, she ran fast like a motorcycle. Then Frazier took a video clip of  Diego and Poni talking about how they saw a rat run across both of them.

Weather Bomb Hits Te Waipounamu

A huge weather bomb has hit large parts of Te Waipounamu of the South Island.

Wild weather remains high winds and rough rain have soaked up nearly the whole city of Southern New Zealand.

Around 970 tourists were trapped in Franz Josef and were unlikely to get out until Friday. The council of Timaru has said it could take weeks to recover from flood damage that has been caused lately. This is a very big disaster that has been token in action down the south island, I think this big incident is going to come through my city which I'm very afraid of.

Taranaki Maunga Only To Be Known By Maori Name

Taranaki Maunga

This mountain is only allowed to be named a Maori not anything else. Why does this mountain have to be named Maori?

I think that this mountain has to be named in Maori because it is special and that the name goes well with the mountain. They've had an agreement and it has to be called Taranaki Maunga. I have never heard of this mountain before, but I think it has a good name, and I think it stay as this name. I like the picture of the mountain because it has a nice view and you get to see it probably from where ever you live.
